Project update - grocery bags

No photographs to show of my projects because I've been doing some of my siggie blocks, a tiny bit of my fall wall hanging and you've already seen a picture of them. Rest of the time I've been preparing for Christmas and some other family things.

Having said that I've been contemplating fabric grocery bags. I've seen a lot of them in the stores but not seen many being carried around (which given all the "save the landfills" hype is somewhat surprising). I've also been looking on-line for a pattern to make some but did not like most of them (for my requirements). However here's one, with great tutorial, that with a little tweeking (sew the bottom reinforced edge into the inside)would work great. I'm going to make some next year. (Sounds so far away time wise but it's only a couple of weeks or so. Aaaaargh!!!!)
Our girls got home safely last night. They took a straight through flight and have lots of laundry to do today :)

I like the totes, and that she reinforced the bottom. I use all the vacation-bought totes, beach bags, company logo bags and such for my shopping, and it is an amusing combination. But I don't end up with a closet full of useless plastic bags with holes in them, and mine are easier to carry.

I made some grocery bags last year for the gals I work with - they really like them and were pretty easy to make. I made them with a lining so they are really sturdy. You could also make them of denim or duck cloth and they would be really sturdy. I combined several patterns that I got of the internet - just took the best ideas from each. Good luck -

Carol- I'm very interested in how your bags turn out! I'd love to make some of my own. Keep us posted.
