The recipient for this Postcard Pizzazz swap lives locally. I might just drop it off at her house once I get past my dose of the "Tennessee crud" - cough... cough ... splutter .... splutter.

Postcard Pizzazz - Back in the swing of things

I'm finally back to making and swapping fabric postcards again. For the time being I am going to do 1to1 straight swaps.

For PP#147 this is what I sent to Pam C.

A few weeks ago I received a surprise package of Oriental looking fabric from Australia. I've decided to use some of it for my postcards.

Project update - packages

My little stack of packages waiting, on my reading chair, to go to a post office. PIF gifts, Postcard Pizzazz mini-wall hanging, hostess gifts and birthday cards. The little quilt on the back of the chair was made by my friend Cynthia and I won it a few years ago in a "silent auction". She was making a lot of baby quilts at the time and since I am well past that stage I "threatened" everyone with grievous bodily harm if I was outbid :)

I've also been participating in a Postcard Pizzazz mystery make and send card. Those of us who signed up were sent items to make a card and have to return it soon. All I will say about mine is "there's a lot of laundry going on" :) Cannot do the reveal yet because the group has to do a vote. For those of you who like seeing my postcards I apologize for the dearth of new ones this year.

I also decided to participate in a "super fast collect and package" swap with one of the yahoo groups. We had to fill a baggie with items we already had then post a picture to the group. My package is called "beautiful blues".

Thanks to those of you here, and elsewhere, who gave me great suggestions for how to sign my double sided quilt.

Sketches for two new wall hangings I am working on. I have not decided yet if they will be two sides to the same quilt or if they will be separate. I've ordered fabric which I hope will show up some time next week.

I'm going to do a full size dummy run using paper before I cut into the fabric. It's very rare for me to name a quilt before I make it but these ones came to mind as I was doing the drawings.

Postcard Pizzazz - Spring Quiltie Exchange

Some of us are participating in this fun 10"x10" spring themed exchange. So far I have my basic bird done. The wing is a pocket and is going to hold .............. that's a surprise :) I have some flowers to cut out and applique round the bird. DD #3 took lots of inspiration photographs at Home Depot yesterday!
A while back I promised a tutorial for the wall hanging I am working on for our front living room. The photographs are lousy, due to bad lighting, so I will have to redo them :(

Postcard Pizzazz - Autumn exchange

It's now later in the day. We were having our sun room and front porch inspected while I wrote the previous posts then I had to go out and about. After that Lucy and I needed to "veg out" for a while. Lots of home improvement programs on the T.V. to get ideas from :) Once our windows/sunroom/porch are taken care of by the professionals we are planning on redoing our bathrooms. (We might need help from a plumber.)
I love this card that came from Leah. It's beautifully machine embroidered and up there amongst the favorites I have received. I think autumn themed projects are such fun to do.
Lucy up-date. She is getting back to her bouncy self. The biopsy for her tumor came back as level 2 contained cancer and we are hoping there will not be any more recurrences at the main site. She goes back to the vet on Tuesday to get her staples removed and a scan of her heart done.

A surprise

This postcard was a surprise from Melva at Postcard Pizzazz. She made too many for her section of the "Scrap Happy" swap and drew two names. Love it.

Fabric postcard

This is for a PostcardPizzazz swap called "Scrap Happy". We had to use leftovers from other projects so I took some bits and pieces and cut them all to 11/2". After sewing all the strips together I fused them to the remains of a white block.
Now I need to finish up about 3 or 4 other postcard swaps and then call it quits for this year.

Projects update - 25 September

I've been working on fabric postcards, a mini quilt for Postcard Pizzazz and blocks from the Grandma's "project". Scroll down to see the photos. (Just felt like doing them separately.)
There is another project I've been working on this week which is about finished. Just got to put the hangers on and a label on the back. It's for an event so the reveal will happen in a few weeks :)

Beginnings and endings

I got the contact info for the person I will be making a mini quilt for "In The Good Ol Summertime" mini quilt swap. I've seen her blog before and I am happy to be making for her. Now I just have to decide if I want to go with one that is already partially made or do a brand new one. I still have not heard back from the recipient of my mini quilt in the "spring Blooms" swap.

Two of the group blogs I am with, Todays Title and Doodle Day are closing down. The group owner has decided to create a new one that will combine all of the different art elements in one place. I'm going to wait till I get back from vacation before deciding whether I want to join in or not. Got some other things in the works.

So I have one more swap commitment for Postcard Pizzazz to get completed (early) before we head of into the wild blue yonder. Got to get my thinking cap on and go play with fabric for a while :) All my other swaps are done and in the mail.

I've been playing around with my blog templates again. I might keep them for a while :)

I've gotten 3 from Claire so far and she has a definite theme going on. I'm enjoying all the cards I've been receiving. It's been interesting seeing how everyone interpretes the colors.

Totally different subject. Elisabeth is sewing away. She is using some of Juliet's left over prom fabric to make a skirt (New Look 6345). She received the summer dress a friend made for her. It was a bit big so she spent yesterday fixing that.

Postcard Pizzazz - Tertiary Colors

I did an experiment with the background.

The hearts are exactly the same. The greens are from different sections of the wheel but still tertiary.

Textile Corner - Postcard Pizzazz - Secondary Colors

Some of us are working our way through the color wheel for the rest of this year and this is the card I made for secondary colors. I titled it "Cats are Second to None" :)

I really enjoyed making the cards and Nik helped me assemble them.
