Blog Spot - Red 2 White

Felting is a technique that I have been somewhat hohum about, maybe because I have seen it badly done too many times. Having said that I visited Red 2 White and was impressed. I'm intrigued by "soap in a jumper" and the beginner tutorial is excellent. http://red2white.wordpress.com/ I recommend visiting her web page if for no other reason than the photographs are lovely and the finished articles are truly elegant.

I don't have the patience for felting and I tried it once using a bamboo mat. Worked OK but was labor intensive. A friend of mine tied balls of wool into an old nylon stocking and ran them thru the washer with soap and hot water...and presto! they turned into felt beads!

I've felted sweaters by accident in my washing machine. They looked interesting but at the time I had no idea what to do with them.
