Bloggers Quilt Festival - Fall 2010

No it's not a doll quilt but it verily well could be and my daughter would love to have it for her twins. The hubster chuckled as I wandered round our un-photogenic house with quilt and baby dolls clutched to my heart looking for a place to take photos :)
It's not the quilt I was planning on sharing today but my other one is not finished yet and won't be for a while. I'm embroidering some blocks.
This is one of the few quilts that I have finished this year and it is for The Gracie Jane Project (button in sidebar). Ironically I found out about this new project last year while reading one of the Blogger Quilt Festival entries.

I love the design. It's very simple to put together if you pay proper attention to the instructions :) I forgot to attach the border on my first attempt and did not notice till the whole thing was quilted and ready for it's binding!!!!! Attempt #2 goes out in the mail this week-end and I hope it warms a preemie baby well.
There's already a whooooole lot of people participating in the festival and as usual I plan on visiting everyone over the next few days (better make that weeks since there are so many entries.) Thanks to Amy http://amyscreativeside.com/ for giving us this fun opportunity to interact with each other. Love the mini photos for the entries :)

You're probably right - a simple pattern. But your colour choice and placement makes it a wonderful piece!

Maybe you're right, and it is a simple pattern. But your colour choice and placement makes it to a beautiful quilt, simple or not!

I'm loving quilt with lots of white in them, this one no exception, and it is not even needing the border that you missed. Great story too!

Hi Carol.
I do love the simplicity in this quilt. It really lets the fabrics shine and creates a lovely visual effect.
Fantastic entry for the festival!
Have fun visiting all the sites. It took me ages last time as I always want to look through the whole site, not just the entry!

Very nice, sometimes simple is elegant and has more of a design impact when the colors are limited. Will have to check out the gracie project. Thanks for sharing, I love your stitchery on your other site I saw.

What a simply charming quilt for such a great cause. I'm sure they could use both quilts. And kudos on contributing and spreading the word.

Carol
What a surprisingly simple design for such a complex looking surface. Your choice of colours and fabrics really made this quilt, - I especially liked the effect of the stripey fabric. Love the sea greens :-)
Thank you for your very nice comment on my blog :-)

Love the mix of fabrics in that quilt!

We could be long lost sisters. I have an unphotogenic house and wander around for photo shoots with the subject at hand looking for a clean, well lit spot. Very hard to find both at the same place!

Your quilt is beautiful and I love the simplicity. Lovely!

Love the color scheme. Also the way the simple quilting runs perpendicular to the pattern of the quilt. Very effective.

Thank you for poppong by my blog and commenting on my quilt. There are so many quilts to see so I really appreciate you spending your time to stop by. I love the design of your quilt. Thanks for posting the final picture too as I can really see how the blocks go together and think I might be able to try that at some point. I'll be bookmarking you! So far I haven't come across a quilt that was made to keep - they have all been for special times - birthdays, babies, weddings and charities. That says so much about quilters don't you think? Must stop by your other blogs - I'm very interseted in my family history too and have got back to around 1790.

Adorable photos with the baby dolls who I imagine are a similar size to the premmie. A lovely cause to make a quilt for and this is nice simple design but very effective.

I love your quilt. I just posted a pic of my Gracie quilt yesterday. I wrote the contact email that is on the Gracie blog two times asking for the snail address that i have to send the quilt to, but so far have not gotten an answer. DO you have another email address or can you just give me the address information?
Thanks!
Micki

What a beautiful quilt. I love the colors, the story behind it, and that it was quilt made with love. I'm sure that some momma out there is going to love wrapping her tiny little one in it.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting on my Olivia 3-D Bow Tie quilt. I was encouraged.
